CHOCTAW BEACH — Walton County Fire Rescue firefighters knocked down a structure fire late Sunday night.

According to a WCFR press release, the incident occurred at about 11 p.m. Following a 911 call reporting smoke and flames, Walton County Fire Rescue firefighters and Walton County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a mobile home on East Beech Street and found “the blaze consuming the left side of the residence.”

In just under an hour, firefighters had the fire under control, the release said. No one was home when it started, and crews had the scene cleared by about 3 a.m.

The cause of the fire is unknown at this time. The State Fire Marshal’s Office was contacted to investigate the origin of the fire.
