Barefoot on the Beach reopens
PANANA CITY BEACH — For Tabatha Eddins, there’s no better place to experience Panama City Beach than Barefoot on the Beach Bar and Grill.
Located on Front Beach Road, the joint reopened Monday after being temporarily closed for the off season.
With warm temperatures and sunny skies approaching, Eddins, the general manager, was ready to get the ball rolling.
“I have a lot of ideas (and) a lot of specials I’d like to run,” Eddins said. “If you want to experience Panama City Beach in the best way, Barefoot on the Beach would be the way I would go. You get good drinks, good food, exceptional service, smiles, laughter ... you get it all.”
According to Lauren Needham, a bartender that’s been with the restaurant for about a year, peak season typically runs from about March to October.
She too was ready for business to start booming following what she described as a “rough” off season.
“Panama City Beach is a resort, tourist town, so during the winter, not a lot of people come out,” Needham said.
Eddins added that they normally stay open from about February until mid December, when the weather starts to cool off.
“We try to play it by ear,” she said. “We’re just completely an outside bar with a pool. We try to stay open as long as we can.”
The two added that one of the things separating Barefoot on the Beach from the chain’s other two locations is its pool. In addition to live music every day and karaoke on the weekends, customers get direct access to the beach.
The restaurant’s current happy hour, which runs from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. until the end of February, boasts $2 off beer, wine and liquor. Starting March 1, happy hour will be reduced from 4 to 7 p.m.
“This is the place to be,” Needham said. “You have alcohol, the pool (and) the beach ... it’s perfect.”
