College football recruiting: St. Lucie West Centennial 4-star LB Deshauwn Alleyne names top five schools
St. Lucie West Centennial four-star junior linebacker Deshauwn Alleyne named his top five schools Thursday night.
In alphabetical order, Alleyne has Auburn, Kentucky, Michigan, Nebraska and Penn State on the list. Alleyne posted on Twitter he does not have the schools ranked in any particular order.
"He’s planning on making his choice before August," Centennial coach Josh Watkins said.
"He’s going to go through spring ball and then make his official visits and then make his choice."
The 6-foot, 210-pound Alleyne is ranked as the No. 12 inside linebacker in the nation on 247Sports' composite rankings.
Auburn, Kentucky, Michigan and Nebraska each have signed one player from the Treasure Coast the past five years.
Auburn landed Jensen Beach Jamien Sherwood (No. 1 TCPalm Super 11) in 2018 and Michigan signed Martin County athlete George Johnson (No. 1 Super 11) in 2019.
Alleyne is a two-time, first-team all-area selection and was named to the Class 8A all-state the past two seasons.
He recorded 118 tackles, 14 tackles for loss, three sacks, recovered two fumbles and scored two defensive touchdowns in 2019. Alleyne and teammate Caleb Excellent, who will be a preferred walk-on at Florida State, gave the Eagles the area's top inside linebacker duo last season.
"He is a great kid, he gets good grades and the film speaks for itself on the field," Watkins said. "His biggest strength is his football I.Q. He’s our quarterback on defense. He knows what we're doing and why were doing it. He's the hardest working kid every day, he’s the leader and he keeps everyone in line. He's a special kid."
